  • At the helm of the Civic Committee is Sharon Hannum. This committee’s charge is to fight prejudice and build interracial understanding by improving communications, collaborating with existing efforts or initiating new ones, and developing positive race relations throughout Blount County. The committee has diligently worked to form a covenant between law enforcement agencies and Blount County United to prevent hate crimes in the county. In addition, a leadership development model, called Accelerated Candidate Training, is being established to focus on government structure trends and mentoring individuals who desire to run for office.
